Dear Readers, With electronica 2024 in Munich, the industry has a real highlight coming up in November. Not only has the trade fair grown considerably since the last event in 2022, but it will also feature a host of innovations, including many in the field of printed electronics.
Did you know that electronica is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year? Opinions may differ on whether 60 is still young or already old, but it is undeniable that people in their 60s often have many achievements to reflect on. The same applies to electronica, which has brought the world countless innovations and technological milestones, with the microchip being just one example.
However, such reflections inevitably raise the question of what the next disruptive, unprecedented innovation will be, with the potential to change people’s lives as profoundly as the computer, the internet and the smartphone.
In this context, it is easy to overlook the fact that printed electronics already has many well-estab- lished applications. This was one of the conclusions of the TechBlick event held in Berlin in October, where the increasing market readiness of printed electronics was a major topic of conversation.
With LOPEC coming up in February 2025, the industry is already looking forward to the next highlight, and it’s clear that there will be many new developments. What are they going to be?
We offer you a sneak preview in this issue. We hope you enjoy reading!
